The internet is now as essential as air and water for mankind. Everything from government to individuals is online and increasingly digital, or virtual. State and non-state conflicts are also being waged online. Whether war or peace, life or death, social media has a pivotal role and it’s grip grows tighter as there is not much control. Ownership is vested in individuals who now seem to have the power to define the future, as the state seems unable to assert effective control.
The talk will present life2.0 which may, possibly, be one where the commercial corporation assumes the form or a state.
However, we have opportunity and hope in human resilience and will look both – technology and law as enablers for taming the “vetaal” that is riding on our backs.
